Breed Introduction

    The American Water Spaniel, as the name suggests, originates from the United States, and the specifics of its origin remain a mystery. This breed was first recognized and bred extensively in the Midwest, so it is now believed to have evolved primarily in that region.

　As a hunting dog, the American Water Spaniel does not let go of anything it wants; it will watch the hunter shoot down four or five birds and then quickly and joyfully retrieve them. The American Water Spaniel is medium-sized, muscular, and powerful, with a passionate interest in hunting, while also being controllable in the wild.

　It has a highly sensitive sense of smell and excellent swimming skills, making it a trusted hunting companion. As a gun dog, the American Water Spaniel will not let go of any prey; it will carefully watch the hunter’s shot game, whether it be hares, pheasants, or ducks, and can retrieve it accurately.

　Its swimming skills are as agile as a poster, so injured waterfowl rarely escape its pursuit; its tail acts as a rudder, especially in turbulent waters
